Two Great Frameworks Under One Roof

It is with great pleasure that we announce the merger of Slightly Modified Options Framework (SMOF) and Redux Framework! The Redux Team is proud to welcome Syamil MJ (@syamilmj), creator of SMOF to our family. We can’t wait to see what he brings to the table. There’s no denying the fantastic work he’s done with SMOF. Historically, SMOF has been the foundation for countless themes on ThemeForest and across the net, so we can’t wait to see what Syamil will bring to the table. Welcome to the family Syamil!

Slightly Modified Options Framework (SMOF) History

On September 29th, 2011, Syamil introduced SMOF to the world . Based heavily on helgatheviking’s KIA Options Framework, (which was forked from the original Options Framework) by Devin Price, many additional ideals and asthetic improvement came from Options Tree. SMOF’s goal became one of offering a modern-looking, feature-rich options framework many theme developers adopted. It became a solid example of what quality work does for the community.

Dovy Paukstys: I Never Dared to Dream…

In July of 2013, I began contributing frequently to the SMOF project. I fixed bugs, changed things around, and created a fully integrated customizer experience. However, I soon discovered I needed more. Not because of @syamilmj‘s work, but because of the foundation in which SMOF derived from. I also discovered NHP. I loved NHP’s code, but it wasn’t as visually appealing as SMOF, by any means. I created a fork of both, which I called SimpleOptions. After 3 months or so of work to merge the two frameworks, @ghost1227 approached me with an offer I couldn’t refuse. We realized it would benefit the community immensly if we joined forces instead of working apart. Thus, Redux Framework 3.0 was born from the code of SMOF, NHP, and SimpleOptions. When I set out to work on SimpleOptions, and later Redux, I never imagined that both the original creators of NHP and SMOF would join team Redux, birthing one of the most versitile WordPress options framework ever seen. I am both honored and excited by the possibilities of our colaborated efforts.

We also automate the data migration on theme activation (or upgrade) for you, providing peace of mind for you and your users. Give it a try, we promise you’ll not be disappointed!

To infinity, and beyond…

There are so many amazing features in the works for Redux, and we want you to join us in the experience! Hold on to your hats ladies and gentlemen, 2014 is going to be an amazing year!
